About Iain

Iain Thornton is a graduate of Pershore College of Horticulture. He has worked extensively in landscaping and civil engineering, both in the UK and overseas. He received the BALI International Award for his part in the landscaping and irrigation of the Sultan Qaboos University in Muscat, Oman.

Since 1989, he has been based in Exeter where he now concentrates on domestic landscaping projects. These range in budgets from a few hundred pounds to hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Iain has a close working relationship with a number of garden designers and architects. He is particularly pleased to have been chosen by Thomas Hoblyn Garden Design (Winner of the People’s Choice Award at Chelsea Flower Show 2012) to participate in the restoration/landscaping of a historic garden in Mid Devon. In 2013 he has also undertaken work for Arne Maynard Garden Design (Gold Medal Winner at Chelsea 2012).

Amongst other internationally renowned garden designers, Iain has also worked for the horticulturist Carol Klein on a personal level.
